Wedding Venue Love | Aberthau Mansion

If you haven’t gotten the hint yet, I am a true lover of all things vintage. So naturally, stunning heritage homes always top my list of favourite wedding venues. Vancouver is pretty limited in its options for these, with Cecil Green, Hycroft and Brock House booking up fast and far in advance.

That is precisely why I love the lesser known, and equally as beautiful, Aberthau Mansion. Acting as a home for the West Point Grey Community Centre, Aberthau is tucked away on the edge of Jericho Beach, surrounded by lovely gardens, and full to the rafters with early 1900′s character detail.

While pretty well booked for Summer 2012, I have been told that there are still a few spots available for fall and winter  events. With all the dark wood panelling, and stunning indoor ceremony space, I think this is a perfect option for any bride dreaming of a candle lit winter wedding.

I have heard concerns regarding the hours Aberthau keeps, requiring events to conclude by 11:00. However, with its close proximity to Downtown, and  super affordable rates, I say all the more reason to rent yourself a party bus, and surprise your guests with an amazing after party in the city.

This place is a true hidden gem, and part of Vancouver’s heritage. Check out their website for booking information and more details!

Happy planning, all.
