I seems like just a few weeks ago we were talking cake on the Milestone blog…and it was. But we are ladies, and love all things cake related, so we are back on the topic.
Cake cutting is one of my favourite moments during the wedding. It’s sweet, playful, and just a really fun moment for guests to watch. So when it comes to choosing cake cutting songs, I always suggest music that fits into that light-hearted theme. Like I stated in my post a few weeks back, I am a sucker for an oldies love song, and cake cutting is a moment where they really fit well.
Here are a few of my favourites:
The Temptations- The Way You Do the Things You do
But however cute the moment is, it really is just a moment- a few minutes at most. So you want to be aware of how you music will flow in that moment. I suggest choosing songs with shorter, more up-beat intros, that quickly get into the main hook of the song. That way you get your guests attention, and the energy is high all the way through. Essentially, you want to maintain a solid music black drop during the whole cake cutting process.
I think this songs is perfect for that:
If you do choose a song that has a longer intro, to avoid any awkward or lagging pauses, talk to your DJ about the exact moment you want the music to kick in. He or she should be able to time it correctly, or fade it in at just the right point, as to create the most impact possible.
Here is a song that I absolutely adore for cake cutting, that works well when the intro is timed correctly:
Well folks, I hope your cake cutting music cravings have been satiated for now. Have fun with this moment. It’s a chance for the bride and groom to really showcase their personality, and be over the top in love.
As Marie Antoinette said, let them eat cake!
