I am, to put it frankly, a complete sucker for classic love songs. Be it Motown, or soaring 80′s power ballads, play me an oldie- but- goodie, and I can’t help but get a case of the warm fuzzies. I also can’t help but want to dance…
To me, there is nothing more romantic than seeing an elderly couple take to the dance floor at a wedding, because the DJ is playing “their song”. That’s one of my favourite results of playing classic tracks; they span generations, and have a way of reaching each guest in their own, nostalgic way. And when your guest feel inclined to take to the dance floor, we all know what that results in: Amazing photo opportunities!
At my own wedding, local DJ, and close friend of ours, Trevor Risk, provided us a playlist with hours upon hours if 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s music that kept both our families- grannies and grandpa’s included- and friends dancing, literally, into the wee hours of the morning. It was a photographers dream, and we have the album to prove it.
It really is fun to see how all the tiny details that make up a wedding, can affect each other in such brilliant ways. The connection between a stealthily planned playlist, and a photographer with a keen eye can take your wedding from average to amazing in no time flat.
It’s all these little details that make me love weddings, and being a wedding planner so greatly. In fact, I love my job almost as much as I love this song…click the link below to listen!
