Tuesday’s Tip – Guest blogger, Holly, From Union Photographers

Hello all of you lovely Milestone Events readers! I’m very excited to be here. Tanya asked that I write a guest post to share some tips for you beautiful brides on how to position your body so that you can get the most out of your portrait session on your wedding day.

Roger and I sat down to talk about this to see what advice we could give. We talked about different ways to turn your body and your head, where to place your hands and so on but we kept on coming back to the fact that really everyone is different. We all have different bodies with different features that we love about ourselves and some that we just don’t like as much. A good pose for one person might not be the most flattering pose for another person. As photographers it is our job to figure out how to pose you so that you look your absolute best.

There is a bit of an art to giving directions for posing so that you still feel natural and gorgeous without feeling stiff and awkward.

Really when it comes down to it, your job in your photoshoot is to have fun.  That is it. Just play and enjoy celebrating your love for each other.

This is why we feel the engagement session is so important. It is a practice run to help you understand how your photographer works so that you can feel more comfortable in front of the camera. As photographers it helps us figure out what poses are your most flattering and also how you and your fiancé interact with each other.

Not every couple likes to be affectionate in public. Working with you before the wedding day helps us to see and understand this about you.

Having this practice run with your engagement photos makes your wedding photos even better.
