And they’re off!
Tracy Bell at La Belle Fleur kindly asked us to help her out on a huge event that she was working on: the BC Derby at Hastings Park. This was a weekend long event in the middle of September. We did a site inspection at the beginning of August. She told me that I had my work cut out for me: she wasn’t kidding. The room we had to transform had a sports bar like atmosphere, not at all condusive to a high end dinner party for the Owners of the horses racing in Sunday’s $250 000 race.Â
Thanks Tracy for asking us to help you implement your design. It was both a challenge and a great experience and I can’t wait until we do the next one!
Here’s what we ended up doing…(Excuse the pictures: I took them myself)

August was filled with the marriages of people I know. I ran into Nicole, her mom Diane and her moms-in-law Rita and Gail at Wedding Fair. I’ve known Mike’s family since I was in junior high but hadn’t seen them in years. With Diane living in another city they definately needed some extra help.
This wedding was full of personal touches: Mike and Nicole’s pivitol moment in their relationship was over rum and cokes at his cabin in the middle of winter. Mike broke off some icicles from the side of the cabin and they had icicle swizzle sticks in their drinks. So what did we do? After the guests and the wedding party were seated the hotel staff brought out rum and cokes with icicle swizzle sticks for the guests to enjoy. Their table numbers were named after special moments in their realtionship with a little story on each card explaing the history.
We had a great day despite the torential down pour in the middle of the ceremony in Cates Park in Deep Cove. It was great catching up with old friends and making new ones.  Â
