Jen & Sean - 07.21.07
In the four or five years that Milestone Events has been kicking around, not once have I had to pull a ceremony inside due to rain. Not once. Now, that’s not to say we had some dodgy weather here and there but it always cleared up in the end. In fact, my incredible luck with weather has been a selling feature. Sadly, the weather won this time and Jen & Sean exchanged their vows in the conservatory of Brock House Restaurant.
I have a special place in my heart for these two. Their love story is almost identical to me and my husbands. They met, basically looked at eachother and knew that this was it for them. A couple of months later they were engaged and six months after that they were married. Love at first sight worked its beautiful magic.
I can safely say that they had the night of their lives. You could feel the buzz and the excitement in the air. All of it captured by Sandra from the Yaletown Wedding Gallery and Jeff Birch from Pin Point Productions. We had an amazing night; Thanks to Jen and Sean and both of their families for everything. It was an honour to be a part of your day.

Katrina is probably one of the most fabulous brides I have ever had. In the 8 months we worked together she was as quiet as a mouse, constantly deferring to my opinion and expertise. Come wedding day though she was a completely different girl: all-of-a-sudden decisive, she was known to say: “It’s MY wedding and I don’t care!” (ps: not in that cranky “bridezilla” way that you see in all of the reality shows on TV…completely lovely and charming…not to mention hilarious.) Striking poses and playing it up for the cameras this group was all about the party.  Kristi Sneddon from To Have & To Hold and Jeff Birch and his team from Pin Point Productions was there to capture it all.Â
Her wedding was absolutely gorgeous (if I do say so myself) hosted at the lovely Sheraton Wall Center we feasted on beautiful salmon and prime rib. If you’re looking for an incredible buffet this is a great place to go. The room was all crystal and silver against a sea of monochromatic reds.Â
It was hard to say good bye to this couple. I had some serious client withdrawal after the wedding. Katrina and Neil’s wedding is over but luckily I made a really great friend out of it so I will still get to see them often. Here’s a shameless plug (because I know they will get a giggle out of it :)) They are awesome realtors…if you are buying or selling e-mail me and I’ll put you in touch.
No commentsMilestone Events…parties like rockstars…and basketball players all for a great cause
Kyle and Janelle Washington of Seaspan & Washington Marine Group fame hosted the Carats at Sunset gala for the Steve Nash Foundation and Milestone Events was invited to design the event space. Entertainment for the evening included David Foster, Divine Brown, and Colin James. Of course basketball MVP Steve Nash and a number of his NBA pals were there partying until the wee hours at this charity poker tournament.
We had three spaces to design: a tent on a deck that was built into the ocean in a Monaco theme; Havana Nights on the Lower Lawn and South Beach under a tent on the upper lawn of the Washington residence in Eagle Harbour.
The Monaco themed tent boasted a 3 circa 1915 crystal chandeliers courtesy of Architectural Lighting and white voile with pale green taffeta buntings. The cocktail tables were dressed in the same pale green with cymbidium orchid flower arrangements courtesy of Ali from Oasis Flowers on Arbutus. We accents these with large glass diamonds.
Havana nights had a really cool chill lounge all draped in eggplant velvet drapery with tropical flower and bamboo tee pees, dark rattan lounge furniture and coffee tables.
South Beach had white lounge furniture with hot pink kidney pillows, and cocktail tables with Milano bar chairs.
A special thank you to Greg Albrecht of brand.LIVE and Catherine and Paul Runnals of Quattro Projects for having us. Looking forward to doing it again soon!
No commentsDrew & Davina - 14.07.07
This was an amazing couple. I met Drew & Davina (and their parents Margaret & Shahid and Glenn & Janice) just a month before their wedding when they found they were having troubles tying up all their loose ends. Ron Basford Park and Performance Works was the site of celebration and the guests partied until they turned the lights on. Â
Personal touches were everywhere from the bride & groom’s childhood violins hanging on the wall to the quilt squares that guests could write their best wishes on.Â
We had a great night and were honoured to be a part of it. Thank you for including us in such a wonderful night and for welcoming us so openly into your family.
Here’s what they had to say:
Dear Tanya,
The words thank you are just not adequate to convey our heart felt appreciation! You guys were so fantastic in every way: looking after everything from the smallest details to the biggies, and all with your fabulous energy and smiles. You made what could have been a nightmare (I had some early on) into a joyous occasion for all of us.
Thank you so so so so much!
Sincerely,
Margaret (and all the Hussain-Davies clan)
Dear Tanya, About halfway through Davina and Drew’s wedding reception last night, a guest and personal friend of ours said, “I’ve been watching your wedding planner and she is so amazing… she seemed invisible at times and then, when you need her or even when you didn’t even know you needed her, there she is with just what you needed.” Your servant’s heart was evident to and appreciated by all of us. Once again and on behalf of everyone who enjoyed this great day, thank you so much for your professionalism and more importantly for caring about every one of us and our guests so much.  All the best to you,Â
Glenn & Janice Davies

Melissa & Jason celebrated their big day at the beautiful Whonnock Lake Center in between Mission and Maple Ridge. It’s in the middle of no where but worth the drive for the incredible grounds and beautiful setting.
Melissa and Theresa had two things that were on the top of their priority list: the food and the decor. Sugar Mountain Catering came out and made us a beautiful dinner and of course we did the design. I swear that if this party could have lasted until 4 am it would have: Absolute Entertainment did an amazing job. I have never had a wedding where people are dancing on the dance floor, on the stage where the dj was and on the patio outside!
I met the Copeland’s in October of 2006 and we had an instant connection. This one was like planning a wedding for my best friend and her family. I felt like I knew these guys for years and it made it that much more special to be a part of it all. They are a lot like my own family: they love each other hard, are basically inseparable, and have the quickest wit I have seen in along time. Thanks for everything you guys. I am so glad I got the opportunity to know you and I am looking forward to many more Copeland celebrations.Â
