Emily & David | June 6, 2009

August 24th, 2009 | Category: Events

So this post is so long overdue…must be wedding season!

Em and David were a super awesome couple and if there were ever two people more in love I would be hard pressed to find them.  The day was completely perfect: not a single thing went wrong, the weather cooperated, the food was outstanding and the details were to die for.  We had nothing but fun and good times and I miss them terribly.

We did a really cute vintage birdie theme at the Diamond Alumni Center at SFU.  Here are some pics of the fabulous day taken by my pal, Erin Gilmore: www.eringilmorephotography.com

Kristie + Jeffrey | 2009.08.18

August 20th, 2009 | Category: Events

For my very first wedding at Brockhouse, I had the pleasure of working with Kristie and Jeff and what a fabulous day it was! The setting couldn’t have been better for a summer wedding. The sun was shining and everyone was glowing for the two’s special day! Kristie looked drop dead gorgeous and was such an elegant bride.

We did a chocolate brown and apple green colour scheme that went perfect for an outdoor wedding with Jericho beach right in  the back ground. It had a very outdoor feel with curly willow being used throughout the wedding. But I still think about her centerpieces from time to time. They were tall fluted vases filled with curly willow, with orchids attached to the branching and draped in crystals!! One of my favourites so far for sure! It couldn’t have been more beautiful.

These guys also did a few things different for their wedding. First of all it was on a Tuesday evening which was a nice change of pace for us and they didn’t have a head table they had a little sweetheart table for just the two of them! Super cute wedding!

Here are some pictures from the very talented Dean Sanderson…..

Hugs,

Danica xo

It has been so busy around her that I have not had two seconds to blog about some of my fabulous couples over the last couple of months but we are getting so many wonderful thank you notes I just had to share.  I will definately get to those pictures as soon as I can.  My couples continue to inspire me and I am so greatful that they chose us to be a part of such an incredible journey for them!

All that glitters is gold…Hollywood style

June 16th, 2009 | Category: Events

So this past Thursday we were fortunate enough to work again with one of our favourite production companies in Vancouver, BrandLIVE, on an extraordinary event at my favorite place on earth, Terminal City Club.  The event did double duty as a graduation celebration for a corporate networking group as well as honour the groups 50th anniversary.   A vintage themed 1940s oscar party complete with vintage car (thank you Adrian Josef from A Stylish Arrival for the amazing gift!) in the foyer, red carpet, stunning golden flocked damask linens in the dining room…and the best part: PAPARAZZI!  I hired some actors so play 1940s press..complete with fedoras and vintage cameras (supplied by the ever lovely Erin Gilmore)…they were all wired up with radios and we fed them the guests names as they pulled into the valet and the red carpet.  The paprazzi called their names and asked them who they were wearing.  Completely fabulous!  More pictures to follow but here’s a sneak peak courtesy of Carrie Marshall:

Rebecca & Jay | 04.09.09

March 17th, 2009 | Category: Weddings, Events

What do you get when you pair a completely lovely bride, beautiful weather and the best of the Vancouver wedding industry?  You get Rebecca and Jay’s wedding.  My home away from home, the ever fabulous Terminal City Club, played host and Erin Gilmore with her pal Tracey Heppner came out to play.

The food was great, the tears of joy plenty, the speeches…well the speeches had me in stitches.  All in all, a great day!

Here are some pictures!

Michelle & Jeff | August 22, 2009

March 15th, 2009 | Category: Events

The stars all aligned for one of the most lovely couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with.  The weather was beautiful, the vendors brought their A game; the family was so wonderful, the speeches: well we laughed, we cried, we loved Uncle Arthur.

My home away from home, Terminal City Club, played host to this very auspicious occasion and was beautifully captured by the ever talented Erin Gilmore www.eringilmorephotography.com.

We did a very pretty woodland theme complete with a moss covered table to house the escort cards.  The escort cards were nestled in birch tree logs that we notched out and lined up.  We filled the spaces with pine cones, cedar branching, ferns and phaelanopsis orchids.  This was quite possible one of my most favorite details!

Here is a neak peak of some my favorite images - Michelle: you look like a magazine cover.  Congratulations you two!

Come for a visit - We’ll be at Wedding Fair this weekend

January 05th, 2009 | Category: Events

Well, it’s that time of year again…a new round of beautiful brides all getting ready to start their planning.  We’ll be at Wedding Fair this weekend totally excited to help you all get going with the planning and decor end of things.  Make sure you get your tickets in advance at www.weddingfair.ca.  This is the biggest wedding show in Vancouver and will  have everything you need to have the perfect day.

It is a complete madhouse though so here are some tips for coming out of the other side with your sanity in tact:

1. Wear comfortable shoes.  This is a must.  You will be on your feet for a long time and there are very few places save the fashion show where you can take a load off.

2. When you arrive, check your coat.  You will be glad you did.

3. Many vendors will provide a bag to hold all your goodies but bring a big one that is easy to carry just in case…a lot of info will be thrown at you.

4. I someone hands you something, take it!  You never know what you might need down the road!

5. Have a plan…and stickers!  Go to the show with pre-printed labels with you name, phone number and other contact details.  Make sure you have enough for one for each booth as there are lots of prizes to be won and you don’t want to be hand writing every ballot!  When you get there, go around the show twice.  The first time, get yourself acquainted with the lie of the land, put your ballots in each box and make a mental note of the vendors that really interested you.  When all of your ballots are in the boxes then go around the show again and have a really good look around. Talk to the vendors after you have all of your house keeping done so you can concentrate on what they are saying.

6. Get there early.  It’s a big show and you want to make sure that you have enough time.  Try to be there over the period of 2 fashion shows.  Go see one of them and then speak to the vendors that you are really interested in seeing again during that time as it is a lot quieter during the fashion shows.

7. Bring a camera.  But make sure you ask the vendor if its ok to take a picture of the things you like in their booth.  I don’t mind at all so snap away!

8. When you get home sort through your bag of goodies right away before you forget what you liked and what you didn’t.

Here are some pics of what we did last year (photos by the incomparable Erin Gilmore Photography)…and don’t forget to pick up your copy of AisleWalk!  You will love this little magazine chalk full of totally wicked stuff!

You never know when…you never know where - Veil 2008

February 26th, 2008 | Category: Events

So this past Sunday a bunch of my favourite local vendors got together at the talented Michelle Binkley’s home (of Bloom Room fame) in North Vancouver for the first ever “Veil”.  Veil is a relaxed get together of brides and vendors.  Completely casual, we invited all the brides who had contacted us over the last six months to have a little sip and nibble and basically pick our brains.  And here’s the best part: it was absolutely FREE!  It was a raging success thanks to Kathy from Marliss Productions, Michelle from Bloom Room, and every one else who attended.  April from April Cakes brought all kinds of delectible goodies, Tammy Lyon from Uniquity Invitations was there showing us how to dress up plain white paper, Erin Gilmore and Blue Olive were taking pictures of eachother taking pictures.  Jo-Anne from the brand new Wed Bridal on Main brought a dress to show off (oh, to be a bride again!) and Lorena from Lolo Jewelry brought some of her collection (it was hard to not get out the credit card…so many gorgeous pieces!).  Hayley Miller was there too offering make up advice and Ozzie from Hot Wax kept us entertained all day long with fabulous tunes.

We had so much fun the first time we’re going to have another one so keep watching the blog and your inboxes for the next invitation…you’ll never know when and you’ll never know where but we’ll keep you all posted!

Here’s some pics of the fun (Thanks, Erin!)

All that glitters is…well…sparkly. Starlight Foundation | 24.11.07

November 27th, 2007 | Category: Events

Every year we help out a charity.  In the past we have worked with David Foster and Friends and The Steve Nash Foundation.  This year it was Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation’s inaugural Sparkle Gala.  I helped out with the decor and some of the details (but certainly not all…this is a talented group of volunteers!)

They held an uber-cool fashion show and cocktail party at Clutch/AutoOne.  An old chum who works for Starbucks showed up as a part of the volunteer crowd and we got to meet some great new people.  LesIsMore, one of my favourite jazz groups in the city performed, and everyone had a great time.

Thanks to Heather Burnette (who has the patience of Job I might add) and my good friend Paulette Garneau (Event and show producer extraordinaire) for introducing me to a really worthwhile cause.

Here’s what they had to say:

Dear Tanya,

On Behalf of our Starlight Starbright children and families a huge thank you for helping make Sparkle 2007 our most successful event yet!  I appreciate that you took a leap of faith with us in a new venue with new vendors but you made it work!  We truly could nothave done it with out you…I look forward to working together again in 2008!

Warmly,

Heather

Here are a few pics for the event.  Sorry, not sure who the photographer was, otherwise I would have done a photo credit :).
