Wedding Bells!

April 09th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Our gorgeous bride Kristie is featured on the Wedding Bells blog!  We are so excited for her!  Check out her story here: http://www.weddingbells.ca/blogs/fashion/wedding-belle/2010/04/09/wedding-belle-a-timeless-affair/#more-7635

We had such a great time working with Kristie and her mom on her beautiful August 2009 wedding.  Out of all of the bouquets the Milestone team has ever made Kristie’s is among one of my favorites.  I never get tired of looking at her pictures captured perfectly from the very talented Dean Sanderson.  Here are some of her gorgeous details in case you missed it last year:

Allison & Darryl | 2008.10.18

October 20th, 2008 | Category: Weddings, Uncategorized

This one was right in my back yard with all of my favorite people around me: Erin Gilmore from Erin Gilmore Photography, Kathy & Steph Marliss from Marliss Productions, David MacMillan from Sugar Mountain Catering and Paula Lyons from Ayerea Cakes.  Mark from Absolute Entertainment joined the ranks and rocked the house.  This was a veritable dream team of wedding perfection.  The weather was gorgeous and we all had a wicked time.

Allison and Darryl were so fun to work with…nothing but fun, laughs and good times!  Congrats you two!

Aaargh! Performance Works - Granville Island

August 29th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

It’s been a long time since I have been a bride and I think I have forgotten all of the tumultuous emotions that go along with planning your big day…the anticipation, the excitement.

Today I got a very poignant reminder of what it’s like.  Carissa and Iain are vying for the very cool Performance Works at Granville Island.  I LOVE this venue.  Cool, architectural, great location, lighting, built-in drapery, I can bring in my own catering and my own bar.  Colin Cooper, the fellow that takes care of the bookings, is delightful with a dry wit that I really enjoy…but the agony of trying to book this place is unreal.  Carissa and Iain had to call at 12:01 am on the exact date they wanted and then hope and wait and wait and hope.

I called first thing this morning to find out if we were the successful contenders but sadly I have to wait as they sort out their messages…they are going to call back as soon as they know.  Apparently there were 2 other couples that called besides my own.

Anticipation is running high an I can only imagine what Carissa and Iain are going through.  Moral of the story:  wedding + wait = anxiety.  I hate it when there are things that I can’t do anything about.  But despite all of that the anxiety is completely worth it if we are successful because this place is just that amazing.  If you are just shopping for a venue now put this one on your list.

And this is why I do this job! - Ada & Zul | May 31, 2008

June 26th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I met Ada and Zul at Wedding Fair and she called me to help her with some chair covers for her big day at the University Golf Club (I love that place!).  What a completely delightful couple.  Congratulations you two!  Wishing you every happiness!

Their big day rolls around with beautiful sunny skies and we went to set up the room for her.  After the wedding they took off on their honeymoon and this morning I woke up to a very lovely e-mail from Ada.  This is what she had to say:

Hi Tanya,

I wanted to try to email you a little sooner, but things got so hectic after the wedding…..we left on our honeymoon on the Monday and got home on the the evening of the 14th and attended our friend’s wedding on the 15th.  Last week was spent trying to get our apartment back to normal, which it still isn’t and I finally went back to work this past Monday…whew….that was tiring just to type!!

I hope you are doing well….you must be quite busy yourself.  Zul and I wanted to say a million thank-you’s for the amazing job you and your team did that day at the Golf Club.  The room looked gorgeous!  I have attached a picture of me that was taken when I initially walked into the room and as you’ll be able to see, I was overcome with emotion because the room looked exactly how I had imagined it - absolutely beautiful!!!!

Thank you again - it was such a pleasure to work with you…..I will not hesitate to highly recommend you to all my friends!

all the best,

ada :)

The Future of Milestone Events

December 26th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

I wear a lot of hats.  Not only do I get to wake up every day and work with amazing people creating awesome celebrations, I get to be a mom.  If you ask my six year old daughter, Lauren, on any given day what she wants to be when she grows up invariably the answer you will receive is “I want to be a wedding planner like mommy.” It appears that she knows all about what I do for a living.

So this morning my family and I were having our Boxing Day brunch and my daughter set the table for me.  It took her an hour to do it but I think that her career path is pretty much all laid out.
